Go For Your Life Kitchen Garden Project

with Stephanie Alexander

at

Altona Meadows Primary School

We currently have some garden beds at AMPS and our gardening sessions have begun.

Altona Meadows Primary School have received a grant from DoE towards building a productive garden and a kitchen classroom, as well as funding employment of a Garden Specialist and a Cooking Specialist for two years.

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation will provide project officer support, training and Foundation sponsors.

Our new kitchen classroom has just been completed and opened for classes this week. There has been a lot of hard work gone into getting the kitchen open.

There are now kitchen and garden classes every fortnight for every child in grades 4 to 6. The classes are organised into small groups so every child is hands on in the garden and the kitchen. We have several volunteers who assist in supervising small groups of students in the kitchen. We do need more volunteers to assist.

This is our new kitchen

How can you help?

  • Pledge your time, trades skills, donations of items required for the garden and the kitchen
  • Make a donation
  • Sign up to volunteer at working bees
  • Sign up to volunteer in kitchen and garden sessions.

Every bit of help received is much appreciated and will go towards a successful kitchen garden program for the students at AMPS.

And the kids love it.
Please speak to Mr. Reid, Ms Hutchinson or Mrs. Goodfellow if you are interested in volunteering or donating to the Kitchen Garden Project.
