

Staff Code of Practice
Teachers at Altona Meadows Primary School
are required to work within the guidelines set out in “Professional Conduct of
Employees of the DET - Department of Education and Training, Teaching Services
Act” and “Teaching Service Orders”, Altona Meadows Primary School policy
statements and specific role and responsibility statements established and
agreed through consultation between the Principal and staff members. The
teachers at Altona Meadows Primary School agree with and support the following
codes and standards:
Teaching
Practice and Curriculum
Staff Operations
- Provide
regular and comprehensive reports to parents and students, which indicate
progress and future learning plans.

Contribute co-operatively to unit, team and school planning.

Participate in school decision making processes and policy development.
- Support
school based Professional Development Programs and take responsibility for
their own personal Professional Development, sharing good practice and
materials with other teachers.
- Show
support for school culture, programs and activities.
School Environment
- Promote a
positive partnership between students, parents and staff.
- Establish
and maintain high standards of student behaviour within the guidelines of the
School Welfare and Discipline Policy and Student Code of Conduct.
- Provide a
safe, caring and supportive learning environment for the students.
- Foster
and maintain a positive attitude and responsibility towards school equipment
and the physical environment.
- Treat all
members of the school community in an equitable and just manner.

Contribute positively to student and staff welfare and morale.
- Respect
the need for confidentiality and maintain appropriate standards of
professional etiquette.
- Present a
positive image of the school and celebrate successes within the school and the
wider community.
Non Teaching
Staff
Non teaching
staff, including School Council employed staff, are encouraged to participate as
an integral part of the whole staff. In addition to the above codes and
standards they are expected to follow the conditions set out in Government Acts,
Orders, Regulations and Memoranda as applied to their position
