Class Code of Practice
The Principal and Assistant
Principal are required to operate within the DET policy guidelines and job
description, school policies, goals and priorities and the School Charter to
provide educational leadership and management in consultation with staff and
will involve staff in management and decision making.
Educational Programs

Ensure the delivery of a
comprehensive education to all students.

Encourage and foster an
environment, which values high levels of student achievement.

Ensure regular review of the
school’s approaches to teaching and learning to incorporate best practice.

Develop and implement effective
procedures for assessing and reporting student learning achievement to
parents.

Foster and support staff
professional growth and responsibility for areas of the curriculum and
administration.
School Operations
-
Establish, support and maintain
effective and collaborative decision making structures and strategies.

In consultation with staff and
school council, deploy staff and resources to meet the needs and priorities of
the school.

In conjunction with staff,
encourage and implement an active professional development program to meet the
needs of the school and individual staff.

Establish and maintain efficient
and effective administrative structures and procedures.

Ensure the resource provision
best meets the goals and priorities of the school and that resources are
properly managed and maintained.

Encourage and maintain effective
communication within the school and the wider community.

Lead and manage the
implementation of the School Charter and report on school performance.
Welfare
-
Establish policies and practices
which best meet the needs of student and staff welfare.

Ensure the consistent
implementation of the school’s Welfare and Discipline Policy and Student Code
of Conduct.

Arrange for the provision of
school based and external support services for students, staff and parents.
Community
-
Establish and maintain a school
attitude of availability to parents, staff, students and the wider community.

Represent and promote the school
in the local community.

Encourage and facilitate
community involvement in the school.
School Council
-
Act as Executive Officer and
provide advice, support and resources to the School Council.
-
Implement the decisions of School
Council.
-
Assist the School Council to
determine policies, which are consistent with staff, student, parent and
community needs and DET policy, guidelines and directives.
DET -
Department of Education and Training
-
Act as the representative of the
DET of the school and community level.
-
Advise the DET on the views of
the school community.
-
Participate in the planning and
management of education at District and Regional level.
