Dear
Parents,
Canteen Closure: The canteen will be closed next Monday, 16th November 2009. No lunch orders or over the counter
sales on this day.
Chocolate Drive: Tomorrow, Friday 13th November is the day for all money and unsold chocolates to be returned.
Tomorrow
morning is the first Transition session for our new Prep students in 2010. We hope that all enrolled students are able
to attend. If any of our current parents
know of families who have yet to enrol for 2010 we encourage you to get to them
the school and enrol.
Building Site: We are hopeful that the second half of the building
slab is completed today. Once the
concrete has cured the structure should begin.
Parent Cooking Classes: Kerrie Risk, our SAKG cook, will be running our
third parent cooking class on Wednesday November 18th from 7:00 - 8:30pm. The theme of the evening is ‘Indian’
food. We hope to see as many people as
possible attend. A separate sheet has
been sent out and we would like parents who are interested to return this form.
Change of School Times 2010: A note has been sent out to parents outlining School
Council’s plan to alter the finishing time for AMPS in 2010. Classes will
conclude at 3:15pm. Lunchtime breaks will be reduced by 15 minutes. Classroom
instruction will continue to be five hours each day.
Extreme
Weather: It
has been very pleasing to see the way most of our
students are playing at both the recess and lunch breaks during the current hot
spell of weather. Most students are
playing in the shade with very few students playing on the oval.
Barbecue
Rebuilding:
Next week a group of students from Newport TAFE will be building a new barbecue
in the shaded area near the school kitchen.
The engraved paving bricks will be lifted and placed at the base of the
new barbecue
2010: We are starting to work on
our grade structure for next year. We
need to get accurate numbers for all grade levels. I would like any families who will not be
returning in 2010 to complete the attached form at the end of the newsletter
and return it to the office as soon as possible.
Canteen News: - Meal Deals Prep, 1 & 2 is on Wednesday 25th
Nov & Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6 Thursday 26th Nov. $ 5 per Meal

uniform shop – it is an annual order only item. No late orders will be taken after 3.30pm Wednesday 2nd
December 2009.
Healthy Habits Week
Next week is our Healthy Habits Week, where we are
encouraging the students to form healthy eating and exercise habits that will
last their lifetime.
The week’s activities will include:
·
Make
a Healthy Sandwich – on Wednesday 18th each student will make a
healthy sandwich which will include vegetables and other salad items.
·
Ride
or Stride to School Day – on Friday 20th students are encouraged to
use their bikes, scooters and/or their feet to Stride and Ride to and from
school.
·
Each
student that participates in this will receive a sticker and go in the
competition to win one of 3 sporting prizes.
·
Luscious
Lunchboxes of the Week
·
A
student will be chosen from each class who brings along a healthy lunchbox each
day for the week. These students will have a certificate and a photo of them
will be placed on the Go For Your Life Display Board
in the office building.

will be holding a ‘Crazy Hair Day.’ All money raised on this day will be
donated to the YMCA Murray River Marathon Appeal. Hobsons Bay Locals are
competing in this marathon and we hope that students will support these
volunteers and the YMCA who provide valued services to the communities of
Australia. If children wish to take part in Crazy Hair Day, they will be
required to wear full school uniform and
donate a gold coin on this day.
