Community Code of Practice
Altona Meadows Primary School is committed to the maintenance of a high level of community involvement and interaction and will continue to:
Encourage parents and community members to be actively involved in school programs.
Provide training and support for parents to assist with their child’s education and to be effective classroom helpers.
Seek the support and participation of community groups and organisations in school programs and projects.
Provide facilities and resources for community use.
Participate in and support suitable community initiatives and projects.
Actively seek and consider community points of view and priorities when developing school policy and priorities.
Develop programs and activities, which involve students as active members of the community and, in so doing, promote each student’s sense and understanding of community.
Ensure that the community is aware of the school’s programs, achievements and priorities through regular promotion and reporting – newsletters, press release, public meetings and annual report.
Maintain co-operative relationships with other schools, pre-schools and educational institutions in the district and region.
Ensure that the school invites and welcomes community questions and input, and that it presents a non-threatening environment for all community members.
